The Iroquois perchloric acid hood is designed specifically for procedures
using perchloric acid. Based on our LA-series superstructure, it features
a one-piece, cove-cornered Type 316 stainless steel interior with integral
work surface and washdown system. Regular use of the washdown system
cleanses the hood interior of peroxidizable compounds, which drain into
a full-length sloped trough contained in the work surface. Access to
plumbing is through exterior access panels only.
| Due to the extreme reactivity of perchloric acid, this hood should be used for perchloric acid ONLY |
Standard features include:
- One-piece Type 316 stainless steel interior – 16-gage coved corners welded to 14-gage, dished, reinforced countertop with integral cupsink and full-length sloped trough; all surfaces are polished to #4 finish
- High-volume washdown tube with remote control cold water valve
- Two-piece Type 316 stainless steel baffle system with adjustable upper and lower dampers to regulate lighter- and heavier-than-air gases
- Airfoil around full perimeter of sash opening, with electrical fixtures and plumbing controls mounted on bias surface
- Side post electrical and plumbing knockouts in standard or ADA configuration
- Bypass grill with adjustable louvers to control bypass air volume
- Full frame, Type 316 stainless steel vertical sash with integral stainless steel finger pull
- Type 316 stainless steel sash guides, lower airfoil, duct collar
- Sash/counterweight pulley system utilizing four 2-1/2"-diameter pulleys for unexcelled smoothness and durability; full-width counterweight featuring “Tilt-Lock” for additional safety
- Fluorescent light fixture – 2’ or 4’ (bulbs not included) with vapor-proof light glass sealed to top panel
Optional equipment include:
- Auxiliary air bonnet – installs at front panel location to supply 70% of hood air from outside building. Requires its own blower and duct; moderate tempering of auxiliary air is recommended.
- Electrical switches and receptacles – pre-wired using U.L. listed components and meeting N.E.C. and the most stringent local codes
- Explosion-proof incandescent light fixtures for hazardous (classified) locations
- Service fixtures – remote control water and gas fixtures with chrome outlets by WaterSaver™ pre-piped to meet the most stringent local codes. Use of hard copper tubing with soldered unions assures joint integrity from factory to service hookup.
- Sash stop
- Ceiling enclosure
- Air velocity monitor/alarm
- Automatic sash closer
- Cabinets – complete line of painted metal laboratory casework, including hood base, acid storage and flammable storage cabinets
- Blower – specifically designed for perchloric acid exhaust – spark-resistant construction with inorganic coatings, washdown nozzle and drain, Type 316 stainless steel stack with washdown; selected to match hood and ductwork configuration; optional explosion-proof motor for hazardous (classified) locations
